History of Rock and R&B lecture 1
What lessons does rock from decades ago have to teach us in 2021? Are its explosive controversies still relevant? Start the summer answering these questions and more by joining us for a two-part mini course based on Professor Eric Charry’s popular History of Rock and R&B class. Explore the history of rock and R&B from their origins in the 1950s through the early 1990s. Engage with a variety of theoretical and journalistic approaches to understand the music and its culture over the past six decades; tying them to such issues as race relations and identities, youth culture and its relationship to American popular culture, and popular music as a creative, cultural, and social force. This event was recorded on 06/23/2021
